Who or What is "Tiswango"

First job out of college was for Gateway computers doing phone sales. No one had the same first name to help make sure other reps did not take commissioned sales that other reps worked on.

I wrote three names for HR and they choose "Tango" which was the name for my red Toyota Corolla. My name became Tango Hoelscher for the 2.5 years I worked at Gateway.

Now when you work with a bunch of guys, fresh out of college, who are white, and listen to rap music you get a funked up nicknames. For example, Gateway became Giz-ate-way and Tango became Tiswango as created by my roommate and co-worker Cory Douglas.

In 1998 the internet was booming and the need to log on to every website in the existence became a real pain in the butt. Tiswango, has never been used on any website I've ever had to register on. Now its my internet handle and you could call it my personal brand according to my marketing 101 course in college.

In fact, my first AOL account was through a roommate and when I moved out, I couldn't get the name back. I made up "TangoSango" for my next AOL account and started using the tiswango@yahoo for everything. Andrea was surfing through AOL users online one Sunday afternoon and decided to IM "tangosango" because if it had "tango" in it, he must be from Argentina.. Right? Wrong! But I captured her phone number and a date later that week and the rest is history!

As a side, one of Andrea's friends IM'd an AOL user named "TangoWhisky" under the same assumption, but feel in love with Tom Weckel, a white engineer from MD working in Miami.
